“WAR STORIES” — NEW WORKS BY VONDER GRAY and JOHN DIEHL at SEA BREEZE ART GALLERY

Award-winning local artist exhibits work related to the effects of war and combat

VENTURA, CA (December 4, 2007) – Ten new paintings by local artist VONDER GRAY and new sculpture assemblage pieces by local actor/artist JOHN DIEHL will be on exhibit at the Sea Breeze Art Gallery from January 17 through February 23, 2007.

Gray is an award-winning artist and actor whose paintings are in collections around the globe. Her current work is an attempt to tell the story of what happens to the soldiers and their families -- physically and psychologically – as a result of engaging in combat.

Moved by recent events in the world, Diehl began to explore his responses through plastic mediums, and they will be shown together with some of his photographs and drawings.

About VONDER GRAY: The artist was born in New York, NY in 1945. She studied art at the

Montserrat School of Visual Art in Beverly, MA; at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA; and at the School of Visual Art in New York, NY. She currently lives in Ojai, CA and maintains a working studio at Sea Breeze Art Gallery in Ventura, CA. She is a founding member of the Hour Glass Figures Theater Company in Oak View, CA and a winner of The 4-Star Theatre Group’s 2007 “Best Actress” award for her performance in “Last Night at Ballyhoo.”

About JOHN DIEHL: Throughout his 25 years of being a character actor, he has drawn and made art on the road, faxing pictures to his son Jackson and wife Julie from the location, and keeping sketchbooks.
